Statistics from around the world
What could be worse than self-isolation? Lack of space for self-isolation. Around the world, many organisations, including animal shelters, have closed down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But thankfully, people became more active in finding ways to adopt an animal from a shelter, most often a dog. Someone wanted to help, someone decided that children would have more fun with a four-legged friend, and someone felt lonely. Everyone has their own reasons, but the important thing is that many puppies and dogs found new homes this year.
Sea level rise. Forest destruction. Greenhouse gases. Forest fires. In 2020, we're asking how to stop climate change much more often than we have in the past.
Don't forget about breathing. All over the world, people were asking about meditation.
The number of queries what day is today hit a record high in April 2020.
We most wanted to learn programming. Of all the programming languages, users preferred python.
Children moved to distance learning and parents became teachers.
This year, there were more requests for how to learn(s) than ever before.
The number of requests for where to go in Ukraine increased sharply. We were looking for interesting places closer to home (but still not quite close).
Masks, social distance, self-isolation mode - most people locked themselves at home. And it was important for many of us to find a new activity to replace what we had lost because of the new conditions.
We started walking, running and cycling more. Many fell in love with watching sunsets - because it's calming. From late April to early September, the number of sunset requests nearby grew continuously. The moments of peace and serenity in watching the setting sun helped us through our days of confinement.
While we grudgingly adjusted to our self-isolation and new reality, many small businesses - from small family-run restaurants to tech startups - were on the brink of survival in the blink of an eye.
Realising how this could affect us all, we became more interested in how to help small businesses. We ordered items from local shops, bought gift cards, and directly donated to small businesses. In March, right after the COVID-19 pandemic was announced, the number of enquiries on how to help small businesses increased tenfold.
Last year, there were more requests for how to volunteer than how to become an Influencer.
And of course, we cared about our health and the health of our loved ones, so queries such as "coronavirus" and "PCR test" were at their peak.

AVSEO wishes you a successful and healthy autumn. Time flies very fast and services like Google allow us not only to find what we want, but also to take an outside look at our interests in the past year.
