How to Use Facebook to Promote Your Construction Company

Social media has changed the way businesses of all types and sizes interact with their potential customers. While we don't usually think about interacting with construction companies online, where we post cute photos of our dogs or share fabulous weekends at the beach, Facebook is a valuable marketing tool even for the construction industry.

For commercial construction companies to take full advantage of the growing importance of social media in our society, they need to understand how to use it to promote their business. Facebook in particular is an ideal social network for construction companies, given its versatility for publishing content, the large number of users and the connections it offers to other businesses.

  • Create a company page.

To get started, create your Facebook page. If your construction company doesn't yet have its own company page, you can easily create one by clicking the "Create Page" button here. It's free to create an account and post to it, so why not?

Start by choosing the category your business falls into and work from there. As a company in the construction industry, your business will most likely be categorized as a "Local Business" or "Company".

If you select the "Company, Organization or Institution" option, you will find the category that is appropriate for your business by scrolling down the alphabetical list to "Design/Construction."

  • Create a subscription

Once you've set up your company page with an attractive cover photo and a profile image that reflects your company (usually your logo is a good choice), you're ready for step 2: building your audience base.

To get attention, start by inviting current customers who will like your page. You can send them an email with a link to your page, or even contact them directly through Facebook by clicking the “Share” button in the navigation below the cover image for your company page. You can share the page on your timeline or on a friend's timeline.

Don't spend too much time worrying about the number of likes or followers your page gets. Focus your energy on connecting with key customers and supporters of your business to help truly grow it.

  • Create and share stimulating content.

While your expertise may lie in creating quality buildings, creating valuable and quality content for your Facebook account is a very important step in the promotion process. AVSEO specialists can help you promote your company.

  • Advertise on Facebook

In addition to adding compelling content to your company page, consider setting a Facebook advertising budget for your company.

Advertising on Facebook is a fairly simple process. You choose the amount of budget you want to spend on advertising and set how long you want the ad to run. If you notice that your advertising is performing well, you can increase your budget and extend the campaign period. If you see things aren't going well, you can change your budget, update your Facebook ad with a better headline or image.

Also remember that large businesses likely have larger budgets to test the effectiveness of their ads and optimize them for better reception, so they may get more clicks and likes than your small business ad that hasn't been tested for optimal engagement.

  • Assess your impact

Some people consider measuring the success of your Facebook presence as the last step in the social media marketing process. While this may be true, the process is very iterative, meaning that evaluating the success of a past campaign can be the start of creating a new campaign.

The purpose of assessing your impact is to help you better market your construction company in the future. Find out what strategies worked well, what type of content your followers responded to best, and then apply that knowledge to the approach you take for your next Facebook endeavor.
