The least in the history of Ukraine was selected for the Olympics due to underfunding of sports

This year, Ukraine will represent the smallest team in the history of an independent country at the Olympic Games. According to the official website of the Udar party, this is a consequence of underfunding of mass sports in the country. 

“Today the Olympic Games start, at which Ukraine is represented by the smallest delegation in the history of performances - 157 athletes who will take part in 25 sports. With each Games, the number of participants from our country decreases. This is a sad result of the fact that sports in Ukraine continue to be funded according to the residual principle. In addition, the situation is worsened by the corrupt distribution of resources. In fact, victories of Ukrainian athletes happen not thanks to, but in spite of the state," said the head of the executive committee of the political force, Artur Palatny.

Development of sports clubs and sections 

The state should pay more attention to mass sports and resume funding for children's and youth sports schools. Love for sports begins in childhood, so it is important to develop it among preschoolers, schoolchildren and young people.

“Sport of great achievements begins from a playground in the courtyard of a multi-storey building, from an equipped gym at a school. In addition, now there is a big problem that the state has actually stopped funding children’s and youth sports schools. The transfer of funding for youth sports schools exclusively to the local level has led to their degradation. Modernized Ukrainian "Children's and youth sports schools should become an important part of the system that stimulates the development of sports. The more the state spends on ensuring that children have the opportunity to play sports, and that coaches receive a decent salary, the greater the chances of winning Olympic medals," the head of the executive committee noted. The politician is convinced that our country needs the development of mass sports. This will not only increase the number of champions of international competitions, but will also contribute to the health of Ukrainians.

“It is the stimulation of mass sports that will bring Ukraine not only new champions, but also strengthening the general health of citizens. In Kiev, thanks to Vitali Klitschko’s program, there are sports grounds in many courtyards and parks. This should be the case throughout the country. We must pay attention to providing schools and universities with sports equipment ". At the legislative level, changes are needed: to make it possible to attract sponsors to sports, providing them with tax benefits for supporting gifted children. Then Ukraine will count medals during the Olympics," Palatny summed up.
